Takes aeons.
Honestly it takes ages to get ready and dressed for a date.
There are so many things to consider notwithstanding the silly weather.
The other day I was changing into heels for a date with ‘I give up guy’ only to step off the tube to a torrential down pour. I had pumps but they’d get all wet and I wanted them to stay dry for the homeward journey.
I’ve often sat opposite dates thinking about the amount of time it took to get ready while they’ve turned up in jeans and a sweater. On these occasions I’ve had to remind myself that I didn’t dress for them but dressed for myself.
It’s also never ending. I’m constantly getting heels repaired or replacing tights, products and make up. I know men pay for dates but often my wash and blow dry cost more than any drink or lunch date. Some men may complain about having to pay for dates but you’ll never hear us complaining about our grooming costs.
Trust me being constantly date ready isn’t fun. Some days you have to force yourself to apply make up properly when you’d rather just turn up in jeans and trainers with your hair tied back.
Heels aren’t fun either. One of the worst things a date can say is ‘let’s go for a walk.’ I always silently grimace when they say this.
My poor feet.
Or when they turn up without a plan and you have to walk in your heels trying to find a suitable venue. The only thought occupying my mind is working out the most appropriate time to change into pumps. It’s worse if they’re catching the same tube home as you and you can’t get a seat. This just prolongs the agony.
Guys if you’re reading this blog, you’ll never know the time and energy we girls spend to ensure we’re date ready. The very least you can do is call us, give us enough notice and turn up with a plan.
Oh and if you’re planning on a walk then tell us beforehand, we’ll thank you for it.

yes very true.. we do have huge costs to be good looking all time. Not to mention the time we invest to look nice and to get all these nice clothes. Good comparison, then why should we pay for the dates? We already had our expenses..
ReplyDeleteWell if they just show up in jeans and sweater.. isnt that a bit of a next?
also; i am dying to know about the date with "i give up guy"
Hey Tanja,
ReplyDeleteExpensive right. Ok 'I Give Up Guy' will be the next post. x
You're so right!! My Saturday night date showed up with only half a plan. We got on the bus to find a restaurant but he forgot where it was, so we walked briskly for over 30 minutes trying to find it.
ReplyDeleteThankfully I was wearing very comfortable shoes. I was in good spirits because of the shoes. My feet and I would have been crying if I'd worn heels.
